Cryopreservation
At Parihar IVF, we are providing a noticeable advance in the field of biology. This not only provides options for couples to store their sperm or eggs for future reference, but also gives more flexibility in extending their family like cryopreservation.
What is cryopreservation?
It is the process where the fertility expert preserves the biological materials like organs, ova, ovarian tissues, pre-implantation embryos, cells, and other bodies under extremely low temperature (liquid nitrogen, -196 °C/-321 °F). It involves storing and freezing of oocytes or sperm. This process helps to stop the factors that can cause the death of the cells.
Why is it done?
We believe that everybody deserves to become a parent and live a life full of love and happiness. Pairhar IVF is on the path to this and is trying to fulfil the dreams of many through their continuous hard work.
Cryopreservation of Sperm
The process of collecting the string and freezing of sample of sperm for later use. Although it is said that male fertility age is longer than women, but still by the time, their morphology of sperm decreases. Doctors recommend freezing sperm before the 30s, because that age is the peak of high-quality sperm.
Why need for sperm freezing?
- The most common reason is cancer, including leukemia, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and testicular cancer.
- By the age, the sperm quality decreases.
- Due to medical reasons or surgeries like vasectomy, gender affirming surgery, etc.
- Those who are working around chemical or toxin exposures, have a high-risk job, or military deployment.
Cryopreservation of Eggs
Egg freezing or oocyte cryopreservation is defined as the process where eggs are extracted, stored in a container, and then frozen. This has been started in 1986, and since then, this has continuously helped the number of couples achieve their desired results. Mostly women are recommended to freeze their eggs between 20 to 30, because by the age, the quality of eggs decreases more than the quality of sperm in men.
Why need for egg freezing?
The reasons that include the need for this process include-
- Cancer is rapidly increasing in women under 40, and this is becoming a serious concern. Those who are dealing with cancer are going through chemotherapy and pelvic radiation therapy, which influences fertility.
- There are several surgeries which can impact the ovaries, like oophorectomy, fallopian and ovary removal, or hysterectomy.
- Risk of premature ovarian failure, or have a history of early menopause.
- BRCA mutation, which requires removal of ovaries.
- Several ovarian diseases can damage the ovaries.
- Preserving to delay childbearing due to personal or social norms.
Cryopreservation of Embryos
Just like sperm and egg freezing, in embryo freezing, the fertilized eggs are stored and frozen under very low temperatures to preserve their qualities. This is further used in IVF and ICSI treatments. Sometimes, by combining fertilized eggs with sperm, extra embryos are created to increase the chances. Mostly women are recommended to freeze their eggs between 20 to 30, because this increases the chances of success.
Why need for embryo freezing?
- Those who want to delay IVF treatment due to personal or professional reasons.
- May have faced recurrent failed pregnancy with fertility treatment.
- Have genetic issues that might trigger the chances of infertility.
